Before You Leave NZ

We (YOU Travel Waiheke and the NZ Government) encourage all New Zealanders travelling or living overseas to register online. This allows the NZ Government to contact you in an emergency situation, or to provide consular assistance, while you are overseas. Just like making sure you have had the right immunisations and vaccinations and that you have travel insurance, registering should be on your list of things to do before you leave home.

Where the NZ Government has needed to contact New Zealanders who are thought to be in an area affected by a cyclone, bomb blast, or other major incident overseas, those who have registered their travel contact details have often been accounted for first.

So, no matter where you are travelling to overseas, if you take the time before you leave NZ to register, then you can be assured that if an emergency situation develops in the country you are in, the NZ Government will do their best to contact you and see if they can provide any assistance.
